Putting free energy methods to the test: the OpenBind Alchemistry Blind Challenge

OpenBind is partnering with the Alchemistry 2027 committee and OpenADMET on a new physics-based blind challenge designed to put free energy methods to the test in a real-world drug discovery setting.

The challenge particularly invites the free energy community to take part, but all methods are welcome.

Participants will receive 54 compounds from a real-world drug discovery programme run by the ASAP Discovery Consortium, together with a single X-ray structure, and will be challenged to predict their protein-ligand binding free energies.

Running from 1 November 2026 to 25 March 2027, the challenge will provide an open, prospective test of how well computational methods perform on previously unseen data..

Find out more about the challenge and how to take part.
